As a witch and a fan of all things magical, I was absolutely hooked by the first two episodes of Agatha: All Along on Disney+. Let’s be real: Kathryn Hahn is a pure force of nature as Agatha Harkness. From the moment she breaks free from Wanda’s spell and starts plotting her way back to power, you know you’re in for a wild, witchy ride. The show mixes eerie vibes with playful camp, creating a truly unique atmosphere that’s perfect for kicking off spooky season.
One thing that stood out to me was the song “Down the Witches’ Road” (good luck getting that tune out of your head!), which the coven sings before setting off on their magical journey. I loved how it felt like a haunting anthem for witches everywhere, even if this is a fictionalized version of our craft. The song has this mystical, old-world charm, setting the tone for the coven’s trials as they embark on the dangerous, mysterious road.
As someone who’s always looking for a good witchy tale, I found myself charmed by how they balance real historical references with magical lore. Agatha's quest to regain her powers by gathering a coven and traversing the Witches’ Road feels fresh yet rooted in that age-old theme of witches seeking power and connection. Plus, there’s plenty of tension and drama—especially with Aubrey Plaza’s character, Rio Vidal. Her chemistry with Agatha is electric and adds this great edge of mystery and rivalry to the show.
By the end of episode two, I was completely absorbed in their journey. The mix of the magical trials, the dark humor, and Agatha’s not-so-subtle manipulation of her allies is such a fun twist on the typical Marvel fare. It’s exciting to see these powerful women take center stage, and as a witch, it feels like a celebration of feminine power, even if it's wrapped up in a playful, spooky package.
If you’re into witchy stories with a bit of sass, camp, and mystery, this show is right up your alley. Honestly, I can’t wait to see what other magical mischief Agatha and her new coven will stir up as they continue down the Witches’ Road!
